The society of sisters of St.Joseph of the Apparition(SJA) put their foot in Tamil Nadu to serve the north part of Chennai in 1983. Far from the maddening crowd and luxury of the city, this peaceful place which gave shelter to the refugees of Celon and Burma now Sri Lanka and Myanmar, the sisters started their mission to the kids amidst the thick Mango and Cashew groves.
Sr.Antonia(who is no more) and Sr.Josephine started to serve 28 students 24 LKG students and 4 UKG students in a small place in assisi nagar. Later it was shifted to Assisi Bhavan. Thanks to the efforts of the pioneer sisters and to the relentless work of Sr.Carmen and Sr. Philo(who is no more) in April 1993, St.Joseph's Matriculation School was granted recognition by Government of Tamil Nadu. The untiring efforts of Sr.Lourdes and Sr.Geetha geared the school to undergo remarkable changes and the school was upgraded as Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
St.Joseph's Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a co-educational English medium School preparing the students to form their character, to be responsible citizens and to march onward towards their future with honour.
